How I use business contact details

What I hold
The name of a company, its website, the town it is in, and a business email address published on its own website. Sometimes the first name of the person that address belongs to, when the website says it plainly. I also keep a record of the emails I sent and any reply.
Where it comes from
Public sources only: the company's own website and its public business listing.
Why, and on what basis
To offer my outbound service to companies that may need it. The legal basis is legitimate interests: telling a business about a relevant service, by a short email to a published business address, with a clear way to say no. In the US I write to businesses only, never to personal addresses, with a real postal address in every email and an opt-out that is honored for good, as the CAN-SPAM Act requires. In the UK I write only to companies (limited companies, LLPs and PLCs), never to sole traders, as the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require.
If you fill in my questions
I keep your answers and your email address to put your campaign together and to reply to you, including a short follow-up if you stop part way. The basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and legitimate interests. If you do not become a client, I delete them within 24 months, sooner if you ask.
Your choices
Reply "no" to any email (or use your email app's unsubscribe button). Either way I stop for good and keep only the address on a do-not-contact list, so it is never written to again.
How long
Details of a company that does not reply are deleted within 24 months. The do-not-contact list is kept for as long as I send emails, because that is how the opt-out is honored.
Who else sees it
Only the services that carry the email, take payment and store the records, under contract and in the US, the UK, the EU or under approved safeguards. I never sell or share the data.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what I hold, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to its use, by replying to any email or by the contact above.
